Mid-Autumn Festival
Mid-autumn is a traditional Chinese festival celebrating the harvest. Also known as Moon Festival or the Moon Cake Festival, it is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the traditional East Asian lunar calendar and focuses on the spirit of gratitude. (Source)
MIMS hosts a mid-autumn festival every year to celebrate the tradition of family gathering and moon gazing. Look for a presentation of the folklore tale of the Chinese moon goddess, Chang’e. Some years, the MIMS Got Talent show and bidding sociables also takes place at this event.
In some years (especially when Mid-Autumn Festival happens very early in the year), MIMS PTO also hosts a fall festival event where the focus is on fundraising with sociables and auctions bidding, and other activities.
