What is the earliest my child can arrive?

Details about arrival TBD for 20-21.

How do I drop off my child?

All: Details about arrival TBD for 20-21.

General rules:

  1. Please follow the directions of traffic flow and be courteous when the lanes merge.
  2. Pedestrian traffic is heavy from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM and from 3:40 PM to 4:10 PM. Please drive slowly
and be ready to stop for pedestrians.

Bus:  HISD Transportation Department will share bus route information when 20-21 return to school has been determined.

Parent drop-off: There are two options—car drop-off or park-and-walk. Parking spaces are limited and our neighbors can be unhappy with the level of congestion, so please consider using auto drop- off as soon as you feel comfortable. However, use a parking option if you or your child need more time.

Car drop-off: Enter the auto-loop using the first entrance on Alabama.
Note: The second entrance on Alabama is the teacher parking and bus drop off. Do not park in this lot anytime before 5 pm.

Please drop off your child only at designated area:

  • Park by the curbside in front of the school, or
  • Park in the Parent/Visitor Parking area.

Park-and-walk: Parking options

  • Limited parking on the West side of the school (McCulloch), East side (Yorktown), or residential side-streets (as permitted by signs)
  • Parking in business lots on McCulloch, Yorktown, and Alabama is not permitted and you may be towed.

How do I pick up my child at the end of the school day?

Parent Pickup: If your child is not riding the bus or participating in the After School Program, he or she will be picked up from the cafeteria. We have designed our dismissal procedure with student safety as the top priority. For the protection of all students, please familiarize yourself with these procedures.

  • Parents/caregivers picking up children will wait in lines outside the exterior cafeteria doors.
  • Parents or other caregivers must have the student’s official MIMS pickup pass.
  • A staff member will collect the pickup passes from waiting parents, then start dismissing students to join their parents outside the cafeteria.

Additional details about pick-up for 20-21 are TBD.

What if I need someone else to pick up my child? (Or if I need to change other transportation arrangements?)
